WAITING FOR BINKY....
A short story.

He has the wind in his hair. We are on our way to Tamri. Perhaps we will see a Bald Ibis. How very lovely. Binky goes 'shredding' as he calls it. Dale was there. He got a little bit car sick. He did not surf. Lili waited & picked her wart. Its what she does. And I tell you what....Tick full of Toc Full of Tic Full of Toc.
Even the sands of time could not foresee quite how inconsiderate Binky could be. Dale had sick in his hair, but felt a lot better.
Binky...now without a doubt taking the piss. 'Have some of that Benchong' she hollers towards the sea while throwing a rock. Lili waited with her shredstick and briefly considered buggering off with someone else.

'QUICK QUICK BINKY'.
Binky was as happy as we were to have him back. And away they drove. Up over yonder far far away.

THIS SUMMER I HAVE MOSTLY BEEN....
In Croyde, Georgeham and occasionally at the new Tescos in Braunton around 8pm following the reduction gun man around the quiche section.
I went to newquay on my 50cc scooter, had some chicken, a little gin and some watermelon helped me find my way home.
I went to france, blew up some stuff with bangers. Landed on my face in the shore break. Had a good time.
I found myself back in Morocco, its quite nice actually. Here are some photos from yesterday.....

ONE DAY OFF
Yeh, I got the day off. I mostly like to go shell suit shopping and get a quarter punder meal with cheese at Macky D's. Yet somehow I was roped into doing a lesson for our bestest of friends, while Miss Anna Harriott snapped away. Incase you don't notice from the pics, the lovely people at DC are keeping us boys at SurfMaroc looking UBER trendy. Note that 90% of Moroccans now think we are sponsored by Dolce & Gabbana... Brilliant!! Welcome to the most fashionable surf camp in the world......

WHAT'S the POINT....
Anchor Point. SUP's are BORING. A small example of some of the small fun waves we have had of lately. Got a few more shots to chuck up on here, mostly of flowers, but the 'season' is nearly done. Croyde is next, then France & then back to do it all again, from the water, freezing cold with my sexy pink flippers.

The waves had almost gone, my fisheye lens broke & we ran out of Gin. I wish none of these things had ever happened, but Im glad they made me try out my other lens port on a cloudy friday.

IT'S BEEN OVER A WEEK....

& then some more since Ive sat down. Lots of going ons like Roxy week, but we have mostly been in the water, in MAY!! Tamri haters believe, its been gooood (check below) & the points have had waves aswell. Meanwhile Jason had a fabulous time at jay's leaving geek night & Amlou is off the UHU.

And just to think I used to think Gary who lived down my street was amazing because he could wheelie for over 3 seconds. I think most people may have already seen this bicycle man galavanting around as it had a ridiculous amount of views in its first week, but for those of you who haven't.....

Circa 2008...
Some old ones from last year that I just came accross of Johnny Wallbridge from Guernsey. A couple from out the front of the villa & Fossils looking pretty damn good!! I wonder what shot that guy got with his disposible...

SURF MAROC SHRED TEAM....

Amazing Doughnuts, Ridiculous Surfing!! Some people might remember the little kid selling his mum's homemade doughnuts at mystery beach, cheekily being told they were going to be 'KILLED' if they surfed at Killers & being dropped in on countless times!! Yassin's still the same, dropping in a little less, but the surfing has gone to another level with stlye and grace WAY beyond his years. Ben & Oli ROCK for sorting him out with a new micro 5'7" Orion TL2 & hopefully the Mr Owl tee will have the same effect on women that it had for Mr Matty Walker!!

THIS WEEK I HAVE MOSTLY BEEN...

THE PAST TWO WEEKS....
Have been sunny, with little rain to speak of.
The waves have been pretty crap (still better than home though).
I have been rubbish at updating this blog (I blame the above).
I put lip salve all over Ben's newly waxed brand new board.
Someone stole my fin socks...Bastards.
For a moment I thought my fins were quite comfy without fin socks...Amateur.
My left ankle smells of frogspawn & I am landlocked.
Amalou (Pauls Dog) eat a tube of UHU glue and went mental.
Tamri turned on for an hour & a man did a forehead stall in a perfect barrel.
Big Friday used a lot of toilet paper
& Everyone LOVES BONBO!!

STEP ASIDE
Possibly more exciting than quiche, av a ganders at The Modern Collective. Highly anticipated, mainly by me and going to be an ABSOLUTE rasper!! Recognise some scenery....

INTRODUCING....
....my new waterhousing. SEXYTIME!! Taken it out twice now, and i still haven't got a clue what im doing!! I'm also loving the cramp I get in both feet five minutes after tripping over my new massive duck feet trying to move sharpish (which is impossible, hence it was nearly dark by the time I got out!) and rock jump at anchors!! Stupidly addictive though & think now may have a couple of boards for sale....5'11 anyone?

Picaresque Trailer II
Just when the novelty of riding the single fin was starting to wear off, Picaresque has me hooked again. Im going to spraypaint my wetsuits, stick my three toothpick shortboards together & take the side fins out! Seriously though, I cant wait for this film to come out!! Released this summer...

I came to Morocco & went Left...
Reubyn Ash visited a while back while his ladyfriend sophie was coaching at Roxy week. The weather was mostly crap & these were taken in a sea of fog. Bought back from the dead, with black & white as the only option. Heavily photoshopped, but thats just how i roll...

A ROAD TRIP
Half way to Mauritania we were, fully loaded with dozens of longboards, rice for days, a trout & a hp deskjet printer. Gordon Sampson said 'gosh it was sweaty in my cat suit and i definatly forgot to lock the door'. The weather was lovely and even auntie brenda got sun stroke.

CHOCOLATE BARRELS
A little bit of rain didnt go a miss this week, my waterproof flouro eighties jacket happily came out the wardrobe again & Morocco is looking greener than...greenland.
Below...Team Reef Hit a nice right wedge up north & a couple of unknowns cruise along the points.

SURFING & FLOWERS.

Nothing alike, but they both look quite nice. Johnny rearranging the wedge out front. GIRLS(& BOYS)ON FILM...

Over the past month I have been randomly shooting off a b&w film on my Dad's old Olympus OM-10. I really like it! Without a doubt, if i could afford it i would shoot film all the time!! LATELY....

The waves have been Ridiculous. I haven't been to tamri in what feels like months. This week has topped off an already stella season, & tomorrow is supposed to be the biggest and cleanest yet, with windguru predicting 6.2m at 16sec!! I filmed yesterday evening at all time inside ankas & hope to have it on here in the next few days. For the moment heres a recent few....

MYSTERIES...
Yassin,15, has grown up right on the beach at Mysteries. With four of the best breaks in Morocco within onehundred metres of his front door, he aint half bad on one of those surfing boards!!
Inbetween water time, school and selling the BEST post surf doughnuts around, he dabbles in a bit of sea fishing with his uncle.

HAPPY NEW YEAR....

Surf Maroc celebrated 1989....Again, North Shore style Brah!! Emabarek sported a lovely one piece, Zac fell down ALL 27 villa steps & I so nearly made it back to my room...

THE DONKEYFISH....

Definition: 'An extremely awesome animal that is 1/2 donkey, (on the head half) and 1/2 fish. (on the body half)'....apparently. This is my definition.....

I HATE SUNSETS

They are cheesy and make me cringe.

MEET TERRY. Terry's from the street and walks with a limp. Lady luck was on his side when he turned up at our door and he now enjoys tajines and veggie cous cous for dinner!! He truly is on the mend and we hope to get him back to Cheerleading as soon as possible!!

ROXY GURLZZZ WEEK

ROXY Surf Instructor Natalie said 'The week had many highlights including great surfs where all the girls made amazing progress; some wonderful sunny days enabling everyone to top up their winter tan and a very interesting and cultural experience at the hammam. The girls got to sample lots of different beaches and spots in wonderful Morocco, with evening yoga sessions at a beautiful and tranquil location overlooking the surf and sunset'.


Although uncommonly chilly at times it was just Lovely. Next week is Ginsters Man week. Im looking forward to surfing, eating, surfing, watching tv, eating, drinking, farting, eating and sleeping.

Īd ul-’Aḍḥā aka Eid al-Adha

The Festival of Sacrifice. Berber culture sees the younger members of the family dress up in the sheeps skin post slaughter. Without a shadow of a doubt, the smell of a two day old, cooked in 30C sun sheep skin with hoof attached is something like a phenomenon. Maybe ill dress up in turkey skin on boxing day. Maybe a great new add campaign for jelly shoes (seems to be the most popular footwear amongst sheepskin wearers, very sensible, very wipeable). Maybe i should stop taking pictures of cats fighting, it only encourages them.

THIS WEEK I HAVE MOSTLY BEEN...SAT IN THE SAME PLACE, realizing I am old and getting no waves....All thanks to the 2oo frothing groms on everything from tamri down to Onze. The European Junior Championships have just finished and as far as I'm aware (minus some scaffolding collapsing on some kids and a car) with great Success. Im sure this has paved the way for bigger future surf comps in Morocco. I have even heard rumours of the Rip Curl Search WCT possibility for Morocco next year?!

PIMP MY TAXI AGADIR......
Without a doubt, the coolest sherbet dab I have ever seen!! Taxi Driver Ronnie, 87, from Agadir said 'I always dreamed of being an Olympic ice skater, but cruising in my Chevy is second to none, and to make some oxford scholar from it, chicken oriental!!'

BIG FRIDAY......

With a great start to the week and couple of classic Croco's sessions, Big Friday quickly found themselves into LittleMonday, SmallerTuesday & slightlylargerthansmallerTuesdayWednesday. Still a small day here is a good day at home where most come from. Apparently NOT though if your legs were still burning and pen was still in your eye after a night of 'Ring Of Fire' . Big Friday KILLING IT, and who can blame then, I was there, it was Menthal Funtime!!!....More to come.........

Two NEW faces this year, Natalie from Newquay who likes longer boards, leopard skin attire & witch documentaries, and Younes the regular foot Machado a like from Agadir who likes shorter boards, cheese toasties & Eastenders.Both are working alongside Red in the surfschool, teaching you your first pop up, bottom turn or cutty. This rare, well needed downpour created quite a Halloween setting. Monty (taxi driver below) embraced the day. Ben & Moncef weren't so happy though, Enrique Iglesias had to cancel his Agadir stop on his world tour!!

Surf Maroc Mini Shredders.Volume One.

Little jimmy* surfs the wedge all day long, and looks to have a bright future ahead of him. Riding a 5'3" lil Jimmy already has roundhouse's, off the tops, floaters & textbook snaking dialed. Coming close to nailing some airs & big fin free schwacks, Yassin better watch out....as his No.1 Taghazout Grom status looks to be under serious threat!!

No one quite knew what to expect. Mitch had been planning for days and surfing had taken a backseat. Moncef took the day off to go looking for drywood in Inezgane woods. Red sat at home listening to Nas because no one had invited him.

THE DESERT DOWN SOUTH....
Small and clean was the order of the day, and a drive south to a quaint little Moroccan fishing village produced the goods!! With not a single other surfer in sight and a stop at Macky D's for a Mc Arabia on the way home, the boys were stoked!!

FOSSIL'S FAN CLUB

Small waves everywhere, but after a bit of a drive and the right tide we scored.

The Bunney's from N Devon dominated, but it was Zac (SurfMaroc's new 5star chef) who got man of the match with many Kalani Robb no hand backside barrels impressions. Aaron from Brisbane said 'That was SiiiCK, I love going over the falls onto shallow urchin covered reef'!!

'PICARESQUE' FILM.
Don't know about you guys but this makes me want to ride something different! I was recently introduced to 'Picaresque' with talk of maybe filming the last segments up the road at Immesouane. Amazingly shot and edited, looking forward to possibly seeing them here and the films release....

Welcome to the Surf Maroc Blog!!
